FILIAL THERAPY
WHAT IS FILIAL THERAPY?
Filial therapy is a parenting skills training program developed from play therapy that directly involves parents in the play process. It focuses on the most important relationship – parent and child – and teaches parents how to connect with their child in the way their child needs, using a weekly 30-minute play session.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
- The program is designed for parents and lasts 10 weeks

- valuing the child
- reflecting on the child's feelings
- The parent uses these techniques during a half-hour play session at home , which they record and send to the therapist. The recordings serve as a tool for the parent's self-development and feedback.
